More and more friends are getting engaged and married (what I like to call #BigBoiMoves #BigGirlMoves). I guess I shouldn’t be surprised; we are right about at the age when it is customary to do so. Nevertheless, the last wedding I attended over the weekend got me thinking: Am I ready for that step in life?

Now, I know that I shouldn’t be comparing my life trajectory to others. “At your own pace,” as they say. It would be great to stay on a similar boat with friends that I am pretty sure will be my friends for life (Thankfully, I’ve reached the maturity in life wherein I can somewhat decide on those!) I would want our kids to be able to hang out just like we did.

I’m not in a long-term relationship, nor was I searching for one because of the pandemic. However, I have been more open to it, and it has definitely overtaken my preference for “fun” and “casual” relationships. So maybe I just need to try out a relationship with true emotional intimacy? Marriage has always been in my life plans, but I should probably start by thinking in months and years before a lifetime. Let’s see.
