Let’s be honest; I could have never planned for this.

Today, I reflected on everything that has happened so far in a particular project that has really been testing my patience and resolve over the last few months. The more I thought about it, the more I accepted that little in my power could’ve drastically changed the outcome, other than altogether abandoning the project and client. Out of respect for the client, a repeat client, and my workers who needed income way more than I was, I have been doing my best to fight through this.

The series of unfortunate events thus far include:

  • an excessive amount of unpaid dues
  • an internal case against some management
  • two lockdowns
  • two deaths (not my workers; nothing illegal)
  • three-month hospitalization and two major surgeries
  • changing of guidelines

Other than my inability to say no and walk away, there really isn’t much I can do now. I can’t break even, but I can minimize loss. At the end of the day, I have decided that all these things have affected the client just as much as me, so I will take it on the chin for now.
